Ascension has initiated its Mission work! We have created relationships with two partners: CROS Ministries and Family Promise. Interested in joining us? Complete our Missions Interest Form and we will be glad to contact you!
CROS Ministries – We are currently partnering with CROS ministries in their Harvesting Food for Our Community program. Gleaning events take place on Saturday mornings from late November through most of July. We recently participated in mango gleaning on a Saturday morning. Gleaning events typically take place from around 9:00 to 11:30 am. All produce is then distributed by the Palm Beach County Food Bank to local hunger programs.
In addition to gleaning events, we also support the Caring Kitchen through our monthly food drives and provide volunteers for food pantry sorting. We also hosted our annual food packaging day in the Family Center last month. We packaged thousands of meals in a single morning! The meals were sent to a needy families through CROS Ministries.
Family Promise – As a partner with Family Promise, Ascension will host families without a home, four times a year for one week. They will spend the evening with us as a host congregation through morning breakfast and will leave us for the Family Promise Day Center. Working with Family Promise we hope to be one congregation of many who will help those who have lost their homes for no reason of their own become reestablished in a home, with a job and functioning fully in our society.
We welcome you to join us as we move outside the doors of Ascension and help the needy in our community. Simply complete our Mission Interest Form and a member of our team will contact you. The Missions ministry continues to collect travel size toiletries to make hygiene bags for the homeless. We are in great need of travel sized shaving cream, deodorant and dental floss. Collection bins are located in the Family Center next to the Information Booth and in the Chapel area of the Church.
