From Cindy Nau, Communications Director: We are blessed to be back to public Masses, to celebrate in community and share in the Blessed Eucharist at the Lord’s table. However, we are not doing church the way we normally would. It is hard to share community when we are behind masks, cannot share a physical sign of peace, or have a cup of coffee together. We pray for the time we can return to a more normal way to be together at church.
Our small groups still offer a time to connect and recharge our faith batteries! While some small groups take a hiatus in the summer, many of our groups have decided to stay together on Zoom or Google groups. We meet online once per week to pray, share and connect. No need to drive anywhere or even change out of your pj’s! The online small groups have offered the ability to keep growing in faith with each other.
If you are interested in joining a small group, please email our Small Group Coordinator, JoAnne Cianfichi. She will help you connect with a group that is just right for you. You can also complete our Small Group Interest Form and we will be glad to get back to you.
We also have a parish-wide group available on Zoom which is based on the theme for the Ascension Daily Prayer: Moses: A Lifelong Journey of Faith. We are gathering online on Sunday nights at 7:00 pm to watch a 20 minute video from our Rebuilt partner, Church of the Nativity, followed by a short discussion. We meet for just one hour.
It is a great way to be introduced to the concept of small groups and you can join for just one week or every week with no commitment. The invitation with the link to join the Zoom meeting is posted every Sunday morning by email and on FaceBook. It will also be posted by text message on our ParishApp. If you are signed up to receive emails from Ascension, you should get the invitation or if you are on FaceBook, you can connect from there. You can also Zoom from your phone through the ParishApp.
